  • Canoe Access on Indian Lake?

Are there places you can park and launch your canoe for the day on Indian Lake, besides the public launch at the south end of the lake?
Can you park at the dam at the north end and launch there? Any other access points near the north end of the lake?

There's a private launch at Sabatis near Squaw Brook.
The public launch at the south end may be a better choice, giving you the option of paddling up the Jessup River arm of the lake.

      Indian Lake dam launching.

While 10+ yrs ago I launched and parked by the dam for day trips both on the lake and down to Lake Abanakee. I don't think overnight parking is allowed there. Pay to launch & Park at the marina in Sabael (for Northern access) or free at the state launch on the S end. A lot to explore on Indian and the modest power boat traffic reduces further out of season - making paddling more enjoyable. Some big open water so it can get rough. S end more tranquil.

A bit late on this, but there is an 8 dollar fee for launching a boat, canoe or kayak and for even parking an extra car at the State Launch its considered a Day Use fee.

come on people, support the Park. 8 bucks is a craft beer and a tip. One whole day of paddling...and added security of your car?
