  • Trashed Lean To's

Ehhhh... I didn't know where to post this so... here is where I decided... a great adventure bike ride but besides the ride, what jumped out was the vandalism and lack of respect for the Refugios.... a common human problemo we see here in the Adirondacks with trashed lean to's ... 13,000 miles apart...

Lack of respect is worldwide, sadly. O/W, it sounds and looks like a great trip.

My understanding is that England has these also- old homesteads that are maintained for transient use in rural areas. Definitely something that is ruined for everyone if even a small minority chooses not to be respectful of the resource.

Sadly, a lot of the folks who advocated "wilderness" don't respect it.

On a positive note, I just spent Columbus Day weekend at Pharaoh Lake, which has in the past had some of the trashiest sites I've ever seen (though nothing will ever beat Nine Corner, I think/hope). Every campsite and lean-to I checked out looked great, there were even very few instances of obvious trash in fire pits. I don't know if some late-season concerted effort was made or something, but it was nice to see.
