  • Harriman snow depth?

Can anyone report on snow depth in Harriman SP?

Zilch, no cover even in southern Catskills... All precip was rain, with some pretty good thunderstorms - lots of power outages around Orange and Ulster Sat-Sun (expect at least some fresh blowdown).

Thanks. I usually head down there sometime in March when we have snow up here.

This week I saw numerous (acres of) tall pine trees down in the area of Olive on the reservoir property along side Route 28. Was that damage from the recent storms?

Possibly, haven't been to Ashokan in a while.
I nearly thought I was crazy to see a frog hopping on US-209 in Accord on Friday evening (yes a frog hopping the road on February 24 ). As I was leaving Rondout area on Sat. late afternoon, they were broadcasting tornado warning for Sullivan Co...
Central Hudson (the local Electric Co.) was still restoring power on Monday, so there was some extensive damage, Olive was hit pretty hard I hear.

I've noticed lots of pine trees with snapped off limbs this winter.

I have to renew this thread after the March storm. Any snow left?

Haven't been on those trails in a while, but if they get that inch of rain forecast for Friday there won't be any measurable snow left on the ground. Streams will be high on Saturday but should quickly subside.

Probably only the North facing slopes and gullies holding any snow there right now.
NYNJTC used to have a decent trail conditions page, looks like they've not updated anything lately.

Hopefully someone will chime in with more direct experience.

50-75 inch snowpack and more coming Sat

I live in the 20-30 range but even so some south facing slopes are bare.

I drove up I 87 today and that area was mostly brown.
