  • Taylor Pond campground?

For a weekend in the Wilmington area, looks like a bit more distant Taylor Pond is a wilder setting than Wilmington Notch....less road noise, better sites for tenting, etc. But with any campground, you don't know til you are there if it is a loud partying type place with no enforcement of generators and late night revelry. Any experiences there appreciated this summer and not years ago please, since things change with the caretaker and Dec staff budget, plus social media.

Taylor Pond is a great, out of the way place to camp and fish
The seasonal rangers' cabin is close to the drive in campsites, so that should insure quiet times.

I love Taylor Pond and just spent a night there a few weeks ago.

No bathrooms or showers, just privies should that be an issue. But, you can go down to Wilmington-Notch for that. There's also a few campsites and lean-tos around the lake.

Can be real windy if you intend to paddle. I couldn't get out of the eastern bay and that was at 6:30am. Only a few times have I experienced calm water there going back 32 years.
      Life's short, hunt hard!

Taylor Pond lies just right to catch the SW winds.
The waves can really pile up at the narrows where the old dam exists.
Good fishing for Lake Trout and some Landlocks.
You may even tie into a big Brown Trout.
Of course, it takes time to learn the lake.

Not necessarily. I was there several years ago when a group pulled in and turned up the rap music while they set up camp. Somehow I went back to sleep, but my friend was up the whole time. He said they didn't quit until sunrise.

            What can I say.
The seasonal ranger (underpaid as he is) may have been intimidated by those folks.

Or they may have just been a heavy sleeper themselves.

Not funny, i applaud the efforts of underpaid seasonal rangers.

I was partially posting in jest, yes, but I was 100% serious with my suggestion. They may quite literally have slept through the commotion. It wouldn't have been the last time a similar situation occurred.

Due to monetary constraints, most of our remote campsites are manned by young people or retirees.
Sorry, I can't jump on the bandwagon.
