  • Lay some knowledge on me....

Okay people. I just bought a new digital camera. 8MP Kodak z885. (I had to replace my other digital since my keys punched the screen. It still works otherwise, but basically it's a point and shoot now.) Anyway, I want to use the new camera on the Lunar Eclipse tonight, but know nothing about taking the pictures. So any info? I have a tripod that the camera will fit on. Other than that I have no idea what I'm doing. I love taking pictures, but I'm new to the whole digital thing.
How is it that you are heading west? Well, we face north and then really sudden like turn left.

I'd be interested in some responses also. I couldn't tell you much since I'm trying to learn too.
I've noticed on my cheap camera, it takes the best pictures in the Auto mode. For the eclipse, I'd be sure to turn the flash off.

Anyone know what time the eclipse is?

I'm hoping to give this a shot later, too. My guess (and its just a guess) would be tripod-mounted, low ISO, long exposure time.

I can't tell you how to make it work digitally, but I can with film... (not that that helps you guys)

              Unfortunately it's becoming very cloudy

Not the puffy cloudy where you might have a shot at getting the moon between an opening in the clouds but a thick sky full and with snow forecast later so it's not looking good throughout the northeast

To bad since Saturn will be just to the left of the moon when the eclipse happens

I guess we will have to wait Dec. 20, 2010 for the next one

                  Your very welcome marzrw!

I've got my 1000mm lens on, but my tripod is wobbling...
Looks like the clamp is working, but the part the clamp clamps to is loose...
I'm going to try with a cable and a black card and see if I can stabilize things by lashing it tight...

We'll see how things turn out!

I just went outside and took a few shots. Still some holes in the clouds to shoot through. The eclipse is just starting, so you can just see the shadow beginning to spread.
