Tick catches a trout
I'm not a huge trout fisherman and even less of a fly fisherman. However, once or twice a year, I'll take out the old whippin' stick and visit one of my favorite childhood haunts deep within a hemlock shaded valley in the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest.

My grandfather turned me onto this stream back in the day. It doesn't have any waterfalls, huge pockets or long runs.

It certainly doesn't contain any "monsters" but, it's teeming with finger sized brookies that haven't seen the inside of the Rome Hatchery or a State Police helicopter.

I'm glad to see that "Grandpa's trout" are still thriving in this tiny little stream. Thanks for sharing it with me Gramps.

Thanks Bio!

I probably caught about a dozen or so of these little guys. It was a blast.

Yes he would. Although, he would question why I wasn't keeping them and frying them in the iron skillet full of butter?

Thanks for all the kind words folks.

So I must say that small trout usually don't do anything for me. But something about seeing those little natives put a smile on my face. Never in a million years would I have guessed that the little stream in your pictures would have held trout. Will definitely make me wonder every time I cross a small stream on the trail from here on.
The Adirondacks are a special and magical place and this is but a small slice of the magic that lies within.

Congrats on a successful outing and thanks for sharing. Cool factor of 10 in my book.
