Saranac Lake Island camping gear transport

Hi guys,

We've been camping on Middle Saranac for almost 10 years now and absolutely love it. Unfortunately, the gang is getting older and the towing of all our gear behind our kayaks is taking its toll. Does anyone know of anybody with a boat that we could hire to drop our gear on one of the islands? We only need it on the way out as it'll be much lighter coming home. We pack everything into bins so its a very organized load/unload.

Thanks in advance,
Ryan

Lower Saranac marinas

There is at least one marina on lower that rents boats. they have pontoon and smaller (& faster) boats too per their web site. Either do that or see if they will shuttle you or gear to middle.

I rented a pontoon boat there around 8 years ago and did a day cruise in the fall to middle. We operated the lock ourselves.

Thanks, Bob. We've had the marina drop our gear off in the past but they no longer provide the service.

Renting a boat is an option, but we're still hoping that we might be able to hire someone to do the drop off.

Thanks for your help!!!

Ryan

Schmidty, would you happen to have booked the site for Friday night as well? Will the stuff fit in a 16 foot canoe, and can it just be dropped at the site if the person doing the delivery needed to bug out early Saturday?

Look into one of the local guide services. Many have power boats to guide fishing trips. They may be able to make a run for you for a reasonable fee.

Haha just seeing this thread now and sorry I canít help Schmidty, but if youíre on facebook you may want to ask your question on the Paddling in the Adirondacks Group. Youíll probably get a lot more replies than here.
