Ideas for lakefront cabin, cottage, hotel, or similar.

Hello my Adkforum Friends,
Any suggestions on where to look for renting a 'pet friendly' lakefront (or riverfront) cabin, cottage, hotel, or similar for an upcoming 2 night (anniversary) weekend getaway in the Adirondacks, or perhaps elsewhere within a 3-4 hour drive from the Albany area?
Planning to bring the canoe, so nearby paddling options would be bonus.
Thoughts?

Two people and a pup?
It's riverfront.
April?

Definitely pet friendly.
Can you keep a secret?
I know the dog can.

I'd check Air bnb. Usually can find something nice there.

I stayed at this place once. It wasn't bad:

Hi, cabins and cottages are normally booked for a minimum stay usually for a week at least in the summer not sure this time of year. There are at least three
Motels on Long lake and some have efficiency units with kitchens. Good paddling in the area.
Another idea is the Melody Lodge in Speculator, not sure about a dog though.
Good food and atmosphere. Also good paddling in the area.

The fishing gets good when the water temps approach 50F.
You may have other things on your mind...
but the paddling options are plentiful as well.

I will send Jenny a PM.

The Irondeqoit Inn on Piseco Lake has a lake front cabin for rent. No need to tell you about the local area hiking and paddling.

Some of the tourism websites (visitadirondacks, lake placid, lake george, old forge) may let you sort through lodging by pet friendly places.

Worth a shot.

There's always the campgrounds!

Indian Lake?

Haven't stayed here yet, but just booked a few days in late April.

Separate cabins and dog friendly. Can paddle right from their beach...

Prospect Point has cabins available before June 24 for less than a week. Prices vary according to what you want. May seem a little pricey but you get a free gourmet breakfast along with your cabin. They raise their own fowl for organic fresh eggs. The breakfast is amazing and plentiful. The breakfast lodge has a big fireplace as most of the cabins too. Firewood is included. The cabins have nice kitchen facilities and all the utensils are there and sheets and towels. The staff is very friendly and even lent me their best spoons for Blue Mountain Lake which has some really big Lakers and Land Locked Salmon. They even have free boats and canoes. In the Winter they have shanties too. I believe pets are welcome. Of course Blue Mtn Lake runs into Eagle Lake at the Durant Narrows and then into Utowana Lake so you can paddle for miles with beautiful scenery. If you go power (you can rent power boats or motors), make sure you get a local map of the lake if you aren't familiar with the hazards for there are some. But with a canoe you really don't have to worry. I stayed there once and gave them a high recommendation on Trip Advisor because I was so impressed with the setup. On this site many years ago stood a very large hotel which had the distinction of having the first electric lights in the world in a hotel. How so? Thomas Edison wired it for them! So there's lots of history there and of course the Adirondack Museum is about 2 miles away. There are lots of options in the Addacks but I found this location to be very special. Just a suggestion. Blue Mountain Club is also close by and for a reasonable yearly fee they have much to offer. Check out their website. Aniversaries are special and even more so if your lady likes the outdoors. You are blessed! :):)

The Trout House in Hague on the northern end of Lake George is pet-friendly in the off season. They have a variety of accommodations ranging from motel rooms to deluxe cabins.

Just a thought: would somewhere 3-4 hours south be better given its mid-April? The Pocono's should have a lot of choices.

Camp Driftwood!
EXCELLENT choice !!! My husband and I have stayed there several times. The cabins are Adirondacky, cute, clean, private and for an extra $10/night dog friendly. Firewood, canoes and kayaks use all included. John, the owner is super nice, accommodating and very knowledgeable of the area.
