Some of my favorite winter campsites have been out in the middle of the woods, out in the middle of nowhere in particular....one of the benefits of winter camping imho. ;)

I remember many years ago being able to park at the end of that short little access road, and never once had any issues. That tractor trailer has been parked...

Ok thanks Tom, I thought it is/was a public right-of-way to state land access.
I also find it a little odd that the public access route to the Walker Brook trail is also still officially unmarked....

Not much old growth but the Jay Range has a lot of wide open peaks & forests. Parts of the Dix Mtn Wilderness are a bushwhackers paradise as well. Lots of open woods in the southern Adks too.
