If you don't like beaver dams you really don't want to paddle upstream of High Falls. Dozens and dozens of dams between there and the Headwaters carry trail. It's some what easier going downstream...

Stay on Route 3 east to Corey's Rd just past Tupper Lake. Many options. Park at Stoney Creek and do the four miles to Raquette Falls LT. Drive to the summer parking lot do an out/back to Duck Hole.

Bog River-Lows Lake-Headwater Carry-Oswegatchie River-Cranberry Lake.

50 miles with no buildings or motor boat until Cranberry...

I think most people would rate this section as either their first or second favorite, with the Cold River from Shattuck Clearing north being the other one. I think you will find that most enjoyable....
