Is a compass really a useful tool? I'm just asking as someone who doesn't own one. I just have a trusty topo map of wherever I'm headed and that's all I need.

Anyone been up there in the last week or two? I'm planning a 3 day trip and wondered what current conditions were, beaver dams, etc.

First time on the forums, like what I see so far.
