DSettahr, thank you very much. Your knowledge is, as always, truly encyclopedic. The WMA funding distinction makes sense, I was not aware of either of the Acts you referenced. I don't hunt or fish...

I've read in older books about the tradition of using hidden boats at remote waters, but I never tried it myself. I don't fish, so I had less incentive than some. Now I take a canoe with me and...

I get weather forecasts from noaa.gov for the Adirondacks and for where I live. They're not always right, but usually on my trips they've been pretty close, at least for the first couple of days....

Rickhart, I'm glad I wasn't missing something obvious about the right way through the floating bog. I suppose that if it did break off from the larger bog and drift in there it's not surprising that...

The banjos I build are made largely from wood and are not waterproof, so I wouldn't want to take one of those. There are some old banjos made from bakelite or metal, and some new ones made from...

montcalm, I don't own a car, the farm where I live and work owns a car which I can use but if I took it away for a week it would leave the others here in the proverbial lurch, whatever that may be. ...

That's very nice of you. I'm not nearly as old yet as I plan to be in the future, but I do notice that when I get tired it seems to take longer to bounce back to full energy than I remember from 10...

Yes, 28 can be busy on the weekends. The most unusual part of this year's riding was the first 5 miles or so west out of Blue Mountain Lake where the road is being paved and they've put orange cones...

I have a low seat in my canoe(though it's not a Hornbeck) and I find that I can get some relief by moving my legs to different positions if I'm not in an area where I can get out of the canoe...
