Yep! Lots of fun again.

I've never seen any black flies during the race itself, though a couple came by during the wait at Indian Lake.

The surprising thing to me was just how many butterflies...

Yep! My fourth year, and my 16-year-old's third. We're hoping it doesn't start out as rainy as last year. :-)

Three feet, not three meters. ;-)

It would be fantastic if NY adopted the same sort of law; for example, a couple of months ago, I had a car effectively push me out of the lane as we were going...

Another one in the books!

In spite of a start that can be most charitably described as "really wet", it was a fun ride. Things cleared up enough after about an hour that the occasional drizzle for...

Another vote for the B-17; I have two of them, and they're by far the most comfortable saddles I've ever used.

Downsides: Short rails, so sometimes a seatpost with longer setback than someone...

Almost nobody stops for water--you'll just slow down and grab the bottles as you go through the feed zones.

I run the race on 42mm road tires, and they're absolutely fine for when the MRP road is...

2016 Black Fly challenge

Anyone planning on riding it this year? This will be my third time out; my 14-year-old went with me in 2015 and beat me by 15 minutes, so I clearly need to train some more lest he think I'm getting...

You'll have fun! MTBs won't be competitive in the overall standings, but they're likely to be a lot more comfortable for some of the rougher bits. :-)
