I believe much NYS salt also comes from south of Retsof NY. I say south because the century old mine took on water a few years back but its the same deposit...they just mined elsewhere. Same Deposit...

Great pics. Love that Rhododendron forest. The stream reminds me of Salt Springs Park north of Montrose. I'll bet the Laurels are plentiful too.

It'll ruin/put pressure on many areas. Heck last year I was on Catamount with 20+ people and it just isn't that big. I use to have it alone. I can imagine 40+ a day and that will happen elsewhere too.

If this is the Black Brook area Catamount there is new trail/s and bridge/s before one reaches the creek coming down from between the two summits.
I saw them being built and rerouted two summers ago.
