I use coconut oil as well, In a small glass spice container so that I can heat it near the fire to liquefy it. It can eventually go rancid though, if you leave it packed during the summer.

current Whiteface Highway conditions

was wondering if anyone has been up the Whiteface toll road recently? I was planning on going tomorrow and was hoping for enough snow cover to use my rock skis at least most of the way.

I have found that Neoprene gloves are great at cutting the wind and keeping your hands dry, making late season kayaking a lot more enjoyable.

yup, but I have found the 3 pin with thick flat bales more reliable because I have had the thin wire ones bend out of shape on me before.
