Letters sent. Thanks, Jim, for providing the platform to write.

I think it's worthwhile to write, even though the rank and file Senators and Assemblymen have little influence.

The budget is not written by the Senate. And it is not written by the Assembly. It is written by "three men in a room" - The Governor, the Assembly Majority Leader, and the Senate Majority Leader. Then it's simply given to the rank and file, and they are told to vote for it.

I called Elise Stefanik and the governor and yelled at their staff pretty badly.

Good luck with that. The trend is downward for both ECOs and Forest Rangers. There is a fraction of what there used to be. The major cost isn't salary, it's benefits.

Meanwhile, ECOs are picking up garbage in NYC (Gov's order) right in the middle of deer season when they're needed the most. So, you know where the priorities lie with this state.

When the governor sends a team of forest rangers out of the state it puts lack of resources for here at home, while there is team of forest rangers out west and same time there is missing hiker there would be less forest rangers helping find the missing hiker.

Someone told me Warren County had 9 forest rangers back in the 80's when there was less land, today they only have about 5 forest rangers and more land the DEC brought.

That's correct. Statewide, Rangers per acre of State Land is down 50% from 1970.

I meet regularly with my Senator and Assemblyman. I brought this up last week when I met with them. My assemblyman is a retired trooper, so he understood.

I was invited to sit on a government committee that was to decide how funds were to be distributed for various projects. I was pretty much told which projects were approved and how to vote, just as you say.
