Above Cedar Lake, we followed Moose tracks north going right up the trail almost to the Carry Lean-to. Having seen Moose sign many times in the ADK's, I was always hoping to catch that one glimpse of the actual animal. In June, I finally saw one. We were a few miles shy of Wakely Dam, heading north. The trail comes very close to the Cedar River Flow in this particular area. Looking out through the trees, in the middle of a protected bay on the flow we saw a genuine ADK Bull moose standing up to his belly in the water. He would put the whole front half of his shoulders under water as he reached for more to munch on. We just sat for a few minutes and took it all in, then we left him in peace (maybe for others to see!) Great trip, but this single experience was probably the most memorable.
