East Branch of the Ausable

My wife and I were going to hike the West River Trail on Friday in hopes for some nice tree colors and a relaxing day out. I was wondering if the East Branch through that section is off limits to the public or if any one can fish it?

East Branch

I'm not sure exactly what stretch you're referring to, but i do know from reading articles by Fran Betters and others that the East Branch does not hold as many nice fish.
