Middle Settlement remnants?

I'm in the process of researching the long-gone settlement established by John Brown c.1800 called Middle Settlement, located west of Old Forge somewhere in the He-De-Ron-Dah Wilderness. It was one of the few settlements created by John Brown in Township 1 (aka Industry) on the John Brown's Tract. The settlement "died off" shortly after Brown died in 1803.

The settlement may be located either around Middke Settlement or Tamarack Lake. If someone has seen the remnants of MS, where are they located? You can PM me. I know Tamarack Lake is on private land but I may have a connection to get me on there legally.
