Knew a dog once named Dammit. "Come, Dammit", etc.... I still laugh when I think of that dog. Not exactly ADK, though an expletive uttered many times while experiencing the joy of having a boot sucked off of my foot in the mud.

I like 2-syllable names for dogs: Colvin, Esther (though you said 'he's' so that's out), Porter, Redfield all have nice ring to them...

We named our great Golden Retriever Adirondack and but always used the name Dak. Worked out very nicely in that it was never confused with the word "no" or "okay", plus it can be used for male or female pets.

How 'bout Dock?

We also had a Husky mix, Newf-Husky named Gully. Smartest dog I ever knew, what a sense of purpose!
