Bushwhack Phelps to Klondike Notch Trail?

Anyone here ever bushwhacked between the summit of Phelps and the Klondike Notch Trail, in either direction? Feasible? Any sense of what it's like?

I found the following blog post on it:

The hike with my son from the Loj/Van Hoevenberg up the last mile to Phelps was a very very memorable one, so I perk a bit when I even see the word Phelps.

That looks like a fun idea. I imagine the whack will be quite tough until you drop below around 3000', but in my opinion bushwhacking downhill is typically easier than ascending.

I bushwhacked up Phelps via Pelkey Basin once. It was mostly open woods (birch ski glade).

I heard that there was a herd path all the way from the lean-to to the summit.
