ADKHP Foundation: 2009 End of year Summary
Hi all, hope everyone is in the holiday spirit and gearing up to enjoy this special time of year. It's very hectic right now for everyone, but I wanted to take a moment to THANK all of you for your generosity and support this past year.
First off..... This year was brutal in terms of the economy and personal finances for MANY of us. We recognize that and that makes the various contributions you folks have made these past months extra special to us. We had a budget this year of about about $8750, with $8000 pledged to the selected Foundation grants awards. (Adam Tower Restoration) and (Jackrabbit Trail Easement Purchase). This allowed about $750 for Forum Costs (both forums) and associated administration expenses with running the foundation. Removing the forum costs/upgrades which are considered educational programs, the Administration Costs are $250, which is less then 3% of our projected budget. Those involved in charitable stuff in the past will realize that that is about as LOW as you can expect from ANY Charitable Foundation. We had an overly aggressive plan this year, and we knew that going in. We built protection in for ourselves. We have a projected project cost of between $2000-$3000 for the Mt. Adams restoration project. Those costs will come due this year as the project gets underway (yes, working with the state takes FOREVER). We anticipate getting much farther along this coming spring and early summer. That allowed us to make a grant award of UP TO $5000 to the Ski Council project, based on the monies raised and our financial picture. We are somewhat shy of our projected goals for the year to date, but we got pretty damn close. To date, with a carryover from last year, and after the forum costs and admin expenses have been paid, we have about $7300 left over. It's about $700 short of the total grant awards, but considering that we have a little time left before the Tower Cost's come due, we are considering this year a COMPLETE AND TOTAL SUCCESS. We are also pleased to announce that we will be cutting a Check to the the Adirondack Ski Council for the full award of $5000 within the next couple days. We will continue to fundraise through the Spring to raise our the balance up to support the remainder of the Mt. Adams project. We are confident that it will not become an issue. Although, it might impact next year's grants and awards. We will worry about that then. There it is in a nutshell. I hope those of you that have contributed and have been a part of our efforts this year feel good about yourselves this holiday season. In the last 15 months or so, and factoring in pledged $$ for Mt. Adams we will have contributed $13,000 into Adirondack Wilderness projects and efforts that have had a direct benefit to the outdoor wilderness recreation community. THAT IS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE. From the bottom of our hearts, we (Foundation Board) thank you. Tim Dubois, Neil Luckhurst, Jack Colemen, Scott Ireland, Dick Hihn, and Alan Via.

more tidbits.........
We still have some (25ish) calendars left, so PLEASE pick a few up if you haven't. They are really nice this year. Also, for those looking to spend a little cash this season , we are still accepting Tax Free donations, either in your name, or that of a love one.For those that have made cash donations in the last year and would like 2009 tax receipts, please contact myself or Jack Coleman and we'll take care of that for you (if you paid through pay pal, you can print one directly from there). Please give if you can. ![]()
