Satellite Imagery

I am looking for an outlaw (illegal) cabin in the north woods wilderness that was built in the early 1900's. I visited it during the 1970's and am curious if it is still standing. I have used both Google Earth and Flash Earth, hoping that maybe snow on the cabin roof would reveal it's location. Does anyone have a recommendation of a current satellite imagery source that would have the resolution necessary to see a 10 X 20 roof. The problem with most of the imagery in the Adirondacks is the resolution is degraded in unpopulated areas. I have the GPS coordinates of the cabin, but not enough resolution to see anything.

Try USAPhotomaps

The resolution is pretty consistent all across the Adirondacks, unlike Google Earth imagery.

The best are the NYS aerial photos - http://www1.nysgis.state.ny.us/MainMap.cfm
The resolution is good enough so that you can see downed trees (just barely). Apparently they are going to put up a new batch in the spring.

Something I've noticed is that a dense spot of spruce in the middle of hardwoods often indicates a former logging camp site. I'm not sure if that's just with camps that have been burned or what, but the spruce seems to love those areas.

Where approximately is this camp located? Is it on state land?

If you're willing to pay for it, you can contact the two commercial providers of high resolution satellite (and aerial) imagery:
www.digitalglobe.com
www.geoeye.com
They can let you know what products they have available for your GPS coordinates.
