Ididaride
Funny the question of the BlackFly Challenge just popped up, as I was about to ask if anyone has ever done, or thought about doing, the Ididaride in August? I might try to do the shorter one, depending on how my knee heals by then, as the longer one looks to have quite a climb at one point, and I'm not sure I'll be ready by then.

Actually, just came back from my first day at the gym...did 10 minutes on the bike, and some light weights, and it feels pretty good.

We may be interested in the short ride too Scott, so keep in touch on this.
We have some good rides we do now that are a little more milage and just shy of the total elevation of the short run. You know you are always welcome to come up and ride with us, we have some great rides out this way that we do with some good hills in them. Sure to get those legs and lungs in shape. ![]() We just scouted a couple more new rides over the weekend. Hoping to get to try them this weekend.

Meniscus repair - came out well, but they also found other damage they couldn't fix (arthritis, cartilage damage, etc) - doc says I may have trouble hiking uphill, but we'll see.

I have to go in tomorrow for microdiscectomy (2) herniated discs impinging on the sciatic nerve - it feels like my leg is broken most of the time. Hey I hope your recovery turns out well!

I haven’t done the Ididaride, but I have ridden these and other ADK routes several times over the years. A couple times with a loaded bike. I also had knee surgery about 20 years ago. This ride would be a challenge, but I don’t think too difficult if your gearing is right. A triple chain ring up front (granny gear) would help to keep your legs spinning on the steeper sections, which is much easier on the knees. I don’t know what your experience is, but as a comparison closer to Rochester, the Highlander Quadsilla, even the 100K version, would be an order of magnitude more difficult, IMHO. http://www.highlandercycletour.com/quadshilla.htm ...and thanks for the new forum ![]()

I've heard about the Highlander...and I've hiked down thru HiTor and Bristol Hills, so I can imagine the ride is pretty tough. Maybe next year! ![]()
