46er Film

Been trying to see this film for 2 years. I hope I read this right...

The 46ers premieres Nov. 13 on WCNY.
The DVD will be sold as a “PBS exclusive” offer to the public beginning Nov. 13.

To buy it now you first have to become a $60 WCNY member then purchase the film for ~$30 more. WCNY is not my local PBS but at least its getting air time. Apparently they will be sharing the film with other PBS's at some point. Has anyone seen it?

Folks who were fortunate enough to catch one of the pre-PBS screenings have seen it. Many folks here have seen it. It's really quite good, and worth some money, although I'm not sure I'd pay $90 to see it. I'm sure it will become available at some point in a less pricey format...

I was lucky enough to watch the film last year when I stayed at Tmax n Topo's hostel, as Dave Gomlak is featured in the film and owns a copy. Definitely worth seeing.

With all the masses of people already descending upon the High Peaks, I worry what the release of the 46er movie is going to add to that. I'm hoping PBS will take the time to deliver a strong stewardship message from their hosts when it is shown.

Julia Goren, who leads the ADK Summit Steward program, makes a number of appearances in the film and talks about impact and related issues.

I know, as I have seen it. Unfortunately, I think most people will focus on the mountains and getting them and things have even gotten worse up there, since that film was made. More of an emphasis is needed.
