Photoshop now has a free website (need to register) that does a good job resizing and doing other basic photo manipulating functions. Best part is that you don't have to download anything to your computer, it's all done on the website and you download the final photo back to your PC when done.

Report: Complaints trigger rewrite of Photoshop Express terms
Posted by Michelle Meyers
It appears Adobe is quickly responding to concerns about a surprising clause in its terms of service for Photoshop Express, the free Web-based software launched Wednesday that has otherwise been well-received.
Photoshop Express
Users were taken aback by a clause that basically gives Adobe the right to do anything it wants with their photos. As CNET's Lori Grunin first pointed out in her review on Webware, the clause in question goes like this:
Adobe does not claim ownership of Your Content. However, with respect to Your Content that you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Services, you grant Adobe a worldwide, royalty-free, nonexclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sublicensable license to use, distribute, derive revenue or other remuneration from, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform and publicly display such Content and to incorporate such Content into other Materials or works in any format or medium now known or later developed.

I probably would have passed it up and not even read it had you not posted that a day before.
Anyway, thought it was worth noting, even if people aren't intending to sell their work, it would suck to see it on a I Love NY brochure or something without any credit, compensation, or legal recourse to get the former.sigpic

Okay, consider me stupid and mostly brain dead (I'm male and 53, need I say more?). If I can't copy and paste then I haven't a clue. I have looked at some of the instructions for posting pictures and creating avatars and I don't understand a thing. I don't know what things like URL, http: or html mean. Can any one explain the process in words of less than one syllable? Things like "step one - turn on computer (If this doesn't work go back and make sure it is plugged in.)" I am just that stupid so please help.

Download IrfanView (32-bit) for Windows to edit and convert images in an easy to use, yet powerful professional-grade software. IrfanView (32-bit) has had 1 update within the past 6 months.
Do that first and load the program, then follow the steps in post 3. It won't make any sense unless you download and open the program. You have to follow the instructions step by step.
Download the program first and then we'll talk...The Wilderness Photography of Gary F. Dean

I was frustrated with this the other day, trying to get my picture files down small enough to share. Then it dawned on me that Facebook does not "reject" uploaded pictures that have large file sizes, so I figured they dropped them down in size to fit their criteria. To be sure I uploaded a picture to Facebook that I wanted to share anyway, then downloaded that picture back to my computer. It worked - it dropped a 6 Megabyte picture down to about 125 Kilobytes while keeping the quality and picture size good. So I will be using Facebook as my picture file size reducing software, while sharing pictures that I want to share there anyway...and I can share the Facebook downloaded pictures here on this message board.

I always wondered why it's such a hassle to post photos here, and so easy to do on facebook and other social media sites...??
