adirondack-park.net/topo - no topo

For those who use this site, like I do:

http://adirondack-park.net/topo/

New today - the topo maps are no longer available. Instead, you get an advertisement from Mytopo that says:

"Mytopo maps ONLY available in select apps. Get FREE apps at: Mytopo.com/apps"

If this stays in place, it will be a major loss of function. Anyone have a workaround?

Suddenly, the topo maps have returned! Who knows why, but I'm glad it's fixed.

And now, just as suddenly, the topo feed is gone again. No advertisement this time, just blank screen.

Anyone else use this site or know anything about this issue?

(My understanding was that this site was developed by someone here at ADKForum, but I am not sure...)

When you get it figured out Tom we'd all like to hear about it.

I know, I know - I'm even embarrassed myself at generating a "solo thread"...you don't have to rub it in!

The reason I am asking for help here is that my understanding is that someone here developed and published this website. Maybe that's incorrect? I thought it might have been Colden46?

I'm not a techie, so I have no idea how to figure this out or fix it. I'm hoping someone else here knows how. It's a useful site, I'd hate to see it disappear...

I don't think it's a problem with the adriondack-park.net website. It probably is accessing the topo map images from another website. Using the google maps API, it's not too hard to set up your own mapping website that accesses content from elsewhere on the internet.

My guess is that when that topo maps stop working, it's probably that website that hosts the topo maps that is currently down (for whatever reason). The other maps still work because they are hosted elsewhere (Map, Satellite, and Terrain are hosted by google).

Isn't Wild River Press Bill Ingersoll's company? I think he used to post here, but my understanding is that he hasn't in a while...

Yes, you are correct.

I emailed Bill just now to see if he knows about this. Thanks.
