I think I recognize that huge burl. Is that the one on the NPT between Cedar Lakes and West Canada Lakes? Biggest one I have ever seen.

Just a little further south along the old path to Beaudry Brook & Jones Brook near Calamity Brook (a.k.a. Wagon Wheel Brook). That burl seems to get bigger every year.

The fungi appears to be a Varnish Conk, either Ganoderma tsugae or G. lucidum. Some call it Ling Chih, (mushroom of immortality), and is much sought after by some.

Drinking tea made from that type of mushroom right now! Love those pics, definitely one of the most beautiful of ADK fungi.

Found this while hiking in the Partnach Gorge (Partnachklamm) in Bavaria last month. Someone put the antlers there, the rest is a natural wood formation.

THis was pointed out to me by a friend while I concentrated my shot in another direction. But then that's why they call it fishing and not catching.

This tree does cross-fit. You can tell because it's ripped.

Not really "crazy" trees, but I liked the blanket of snow.
