Question Mountain Pond

How far is the carry to get on Mountain Pond off of 86 and Mountain Pond Road in Paul Smiths?

Not sure what you want Mt Pond is on rt 30 with a road that goes within 50 feet of the pond. I do believe this is called Mt Pond road but used to be part of the old rt 30

I was thinking this is the one that can also be accessed by hiking from Long Pond. I was just wondering if there was a put in that was easily accessed from Mount Pond Road. I have never been down that road.

Not a paddler, but have done some hiking in the area.

It would be a fairly tough carry from the tiny Long Pond over by Jenkins Mtn. There is a path, but it's not always easy to follow. If you drive to Mountain Pond, you can preview that end of the path; it leaves right from the SW side of Route 30 in a low area, about 100 yards NW of the Mountain Pond Rd. intersection.

Warning . . As of last month, The southern end of Mountain Pond Rd off 30 asphalt caved in leaving a one and half foot drop onto dirt. It could be an issue with a regular clearance vehicle.
