Need a few fun people to help organize a Beer Night in their area

One of the many benefits derived from being a member of the forums has been the opportunity to meet and hike with great people who share a common passion. For many of us very strong friendships have developed over time. We believe that those touch points are the basis of the success of our cyber community.
Our yearly “Winter Gathering” is always a good time and it is great to see people who have previously only known each other virtually, meet in person, often for the first time. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to attend this event. With that in mind we would like to see more small informal gatherings on a regional level.
Some of you may have heard of “Montreal Beer Night” which is an example of what we would like to do in other areas. Nothing more than a small get together on a weeknight to, have a beer, wine, or soda (Pop for you western NY’rs) and put a live face to the screen name.
Neil and I have been tasked with forming a special committee for Membership, Fundraising and Events. This is an open solicitation for a few nice people who would like to help us make these get togethers happen.
A broad view of what we would like to see is one or two people each from Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Binghamton or any other town where we have a significant presence who would serve as the coordinator for the event 3 or 4 times a year. Preferably someone who knows the area well and can suggest a good place for forum members to get together for a few hours.
If you are in favor of these little “gatherings” let us know below and tell us what town so we have an idea of what to expect people wise. We will set dates later but would like to get one in before the holiday’s if possible.
If you would like to be on the committee to organize the gathering locally send a PM to Neil or me.

I'm always up for a beer or two in the Albany area, even on a weeknight.
Monday Night Football, or other sporting event would be pretty cool!
Just let me know, I'll stop in.

I'd be interested in meeting some people from the Binghamton area.I think Tully's Sports Bar might be a good location. If there's interest I could set up the time.

Me too. Rochester hasn't done anything for some time.

What are you thinking Scott?

We are running the same thread on ADKHP as well. Probably a good idea to take a look.

We'll compile a list of towns and organizers (hopefully today) and then send a PM to the organizers. Stay tuned.

I'd be interested in meeting folks in the Syracuse or Oswego areas.

What about up North a bit? I know it's going to be difficult gathering those of us from rural places...

I don't think there are too many of us here on Long Island... & week nights are tough for us. The alarm rings at 4:00AM every day, but we might be up for something on a Friday or Saturday evening.
Do think it's a nice idea whether it works out for us or not...
