Great New Restuarant in Schroon Lake!

For those of you that pass through Schroon Lake, or are based there for some of your hikes, a great new restaurant just opened up.

It's called Sticks and Stones and features a wood-fired bistro and bar. The building is fantastic. The early reviews have been great. The restaurant is on Route 9, about a mile south of town.

We just had a simple pepperoni pizza today, but we'll be back. Prices are reasonable and the décor is great.

Here is a little more info.

... and don't forget Mr. P's for the best barbeque around. They are right in town across from the Grand Union.

Thanks for this post, Mike.
Is it located where that huge log chair is?
I'm in Schroon Lake several times through out the year, and I usually stop in at one of my favorite Irish pubs, Flanagan's, for a burger and a beer, but I'll be sure to check out Sticks & Stones next time.

Yes, S&S is good! We discovered it last weekend also; one of the owners said they just opened on 6/18. Neat format.

So now my list of best places in Schroon Lake is: Witherbees, S&S, Flanagans, DeCesares Pizza, and I've had a good meal in the Timberwolf.

... and if you haven't tried Mr. P's, stop in. Fantastic baked beans, mac-n-cheese and barbeque.

Good to know, we stopped @ Shirley's Diner for Breakfast last weekend and while the food was good, I don't like dropping $30 for breakfast for me and my son!!!

This is the first I'm hearing about Sticks and Stones, I certainly hope my schedule allows me to get to Schroon this summer to try it out!
I'm another one who can't seem to pass by Schroon Lake (one of my favorite places ever) without a stop into Flanagans for a beer.

Other places that are recommended in the Schroon Lake/Brant Lake area include; The Place (Loon Lake), The Owl At Twilight (Olmstedville), Basil & Wicks (North Creek), The Hub (Brant Lake), the Adirondack General Store (Schroon Lake - breakfast and lunch), and the Adirondack Café (Pottersville - byo wine or beer).

I know that many of you are young bucks who most likely aren't old enough to remember. But many moons ago I enjoyed Frontier Town when it was in its heyday. Great stagecoach ride which was attacked by Indians. I also remember a little Italian restaurant in Schroon Lake which had delicious food especially after a swim in the chilly Schroon. I know it's a long shot but can anyone else relate?

I don't know about the restaurant, but a good number of recollections are in this thread :

Last Saturday night I passed through Schroon Lake looking for Mr P's and was informed by a local that it had closed so, not knowing any better, we went on to Etown and ate at the Halfway House, which we greatly enjoyed. It's a couple of miles South on US9.

I remember the park, but other than eating at the A-Frame building there (I don't remember if that is when it was a McDonalds or when it was a park related food service), the only other place I can think of was something like Schroon Lake Inn (perhaps?). Whatever it was, it was fine once they realized that they seated us and forgot to tell any servers that it was their table
