I'm offering to hike a section or two as well. I'm not built for long distance backpacking, but can do 10 miles in a day if I'm going rather light. Could also serve to restock someone if they send me/drop off the food in advance. I take that stuff real seriously, I realize the importance of getting those fresh twinkies and bottles of beer to a thirsty and famished hiker.

You're still always welcome to stay here if it helps to split your ride north .

Yup. I'm OK with hiking with you, it's the dates I can't commit to yet. I'm sure I could get one long weekend in but I'm not sure if I can take off the full 10 days. I also will have a son to take to college somewhere in that time frame. I'll know more as we get closer.

A restock would be great. Maybe at Wakely Dam or lake Durant. Now what would really be nice would be a ride to knok off the death march from Wakely to McCains.

You haven't done route 30 to Long Lake yet have you? Or Stevens and Cascade Ponds?

But before I get carried away here, this is Sky's Adventure, so whatever she thinks.

.......and y'all are a bunch of crazy fools for wanting in on it.

Hey, I'm all for killing that 6something mile roadwalk between wakely and mccanes (it's the worst day as i stare at my list of lean-tos and milages). that rw makes me want to cry.

Actually, I'm pretty much cool with anything. After all, being in the woods on vacay beats being in lab at work.

Just as long as we don't get dropped off AT McCaines. They don't want people stopping to discharge hikers by the property.

Sorry, but my girl germs have pigtails.

Ok, so we're looking at a 12-14 day meander with 8-10 miles a day (aka hawk's pace) starting in Placid on 16 Aug. Looks like we'll be able to hit a LT every night, with the exception of a night at Fall Stream (I'd figure a few folks *coughhawkcough*would beat me up if I made y'all do a 16 mile day ).

That's the perfect time for me, if I can get in on this.

I'll try to get to the May 31 work session to meet everyone, though to be honest I'd rather work on the blow-downs north of Silver Lake than anything else. They seem to annoy me a lot, perhaps because they have been there so long.

Here's the skinny - I've contacted the folks who's expressed interest......and I think I've gotten to everyone. If I missed ya, well, PM me.

Also, it seems to be a good idea to limit the group to 6 - there are 2 definite "yes" folks and 2 "i'm planning on this" folks....which leaves 2 spots open for interested people.

If anybody wants to do just a bit of it (yeah, i know, two weeks is a hefty chunk of time) say something and you'll be kept in the loop.

This is shaping up to be quite the adventure.

Still thinking of coming along, however, I just received my schedule for the summer. It seems that I will not be able to join you until August 17 or August 18 as the summer session at Middlebury College does not end until August 15. Let's stay in touch. I'm willing to attend weekend day trips to help with planning.

Good Idea.

I think some planning is going on this weekend? I hoping My 16 yr old daughter and I can catch part of the second half and maybe do a respply as well.

I'd love for her to meet some of you hiking ladies and for her to get the outdoor bug.
