I would think that using a vapour barrier for extended periods may leave you at risk of trench foot. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trench_foot

A day or two use of a vapor barrier will have no negative consequence. If you are moving, there shouldn't be any cold and clammy feeling with a vapor barrier. All bets are off when you stop for a period of time.
I prefer having a liner but if I didn't, I'd use a vapor-barrier system unless you had the means to dry out your boots at night. |
