Question Trailheads to Algonquin from the Loj

Last year when I skied Wrights Peak with the guys form the Backcounrty Skifest we approached the trail by passing the gate and continuing to another parking lot straight ahead. Traditionally I make a left past the gate house and park there. Any info on the two different trail heads?

I think the lot straight ahead is for the campground, though I could be wrong as I've only parked at the Loj 2 or 3 times total.
A man needs to believe in something. I believe I'll go hiking.

Sounds like you took the "old" trail from the Loj, that pre-dates the current parking lot and Campers and Hikers Building. It does indeed start from the campground and meets up with the existing trail at the Algonquin turn off, 0.9 miles from the normal Loj parking lot. I sometimes take this trail back to the Loj just for a brief change of scenery. When hiking from Marcy Dam toward the Loj, you come to the Algonquin turn off to the left and the marked trail to the Loj goes to the right. The "old" trail goes straight ahead and is quite obvious.
