Lake Placid Mexican Restaurants

Going to be in Lake Placid after Xmas and looking for input on whether we should hit Wyatts or Desperados for Mexican eats and drinks. Opinions and reviews on either of these places are appreciated. Thanks.

Casa de Sol in Saranac used to be the best once upon a time. No knowledge of the ones you mention. Good Luck.

Maybe. We were in the area for eight days last year..drove by several times and either the place was dark at dinner or had one or two cars in the lot. Not the crowds that it used to have. But that was July and Trip Advisor has more good reviews lately.

Definitely will give two thumbs up for Desperados in LP. Always had great meals and drinks there.

If Casa del Sol really did re-open in SLK, that's great news. I'll be up there next month to check it out!

Sounds like Casa just reopened in 2014. From their website...

"A local favorite and must-do stop for seasonal visitors, Casa captured more than 30 years of history in the pages of its legendary recipe book and the memories of loyal patrons. When the doors sadly shuttered in 2012, the spirit of Casa del Sol lived on...

Two years later, the legendary Mexican restaurant returns! Restaurateur and tequila enthusiast Walter McClure and Saranac Lake native Mary Beth Wigger bring back your favorite Casa classics, some exciting innovations, and one timeless piece of advice..."

It's a good thing their doors have reopened. We may hit Desperados though, since the reviews from Jackson and JJW sound good. Thanks again. SR

Wyatts is good, but it isn't a 'sit down' restaurant really. It is small. I tend to think of it as more of a take out or local Chipotle alternative.

Desperados is your better bet for more of a sit down meal or have a drink with some food kind of a place. They have a bar, etc.

Casa WAS our local favorite. But we haven't been back since it reopened under new management, and haven't heard anything from others yet. It is also a small drive if you are staying in LP. 35 minutes or so out and back.

post 44 has a negative review from September off the "new Casa."

Haven't looked at Trip Advisor yet - would be great to get a current review from someone here - who will experiment?
