Botheration Pond Loop 12/30/16

Skied the Botheration Pond Loop on Friday (12/30/16). Conditions were very good with 6-8 inches of powder on a good base. We broke trail for most of the loop. There were a few rocks that can be avoided - just be careful on the downhills. We parked at the tennis courts at Garnet Hill because the end of the road heading toward Old Farm Clearing was not yet plowed. The large bridge across the East branch of the Sacandaga has collapsed, but crossing the river on the ice was not an issue. Great day out!

Bridge is out?!?

Is that the one right at the outlet of Botheration Pond or the one halfway between there and Old Farm?

They both seem(ed) like sturdy bridges.

It's the larger one about halfway between there and Old farm. There are postings warning that the bridge is out at the trailheads.

Bummer

The woodcraft on the handrails was really neat.

I hope they are able to replace it soon. That's a really nice area to tool around in.

Photo of the bridge. Looks like the main beams broke about 3/4 across. Too bad,it was a very nice bridge.

Wow! That's catastrophic!

Those were some pretty strong logs. I'd hate to be walking on it when it gave out.
