6-10-2017 Sherman mtn upper cliffs

Went to check out the upper cliffs on Sherman mountain in the southern Adirondacks (near Arietta) - since I missed them last time I climbed Sherman from the North Branch trail/path. I Parked on Route 10 and followed the path to Chub Lake and beyond. After crossing the two creeks downstream of the vly, I took the right branch (climbers path) that leads toward the upper cliffs. It was difficult to follow. There was occasional flagging, but no real defined treadway. I gave up and just found my own way up - north of the ravine with all the huge boulders. It lead me right up along the cliffs. Closer to the main climbers cliffs (Lost Hunters), I came across a path marked with lots of red paint. Nice views on this sunny morning. Bugs were a little annoying so didn't linger and headed back.

some pictures

I also checked out Broomstick Lake nearby.

Love the view from up there.

Beaver dam at Broomstick looks pretty healthy too.

Nice!
The Shermanator is definitely a lot of fun!
Did you happen to find the balancing rock?

I went by a bunch of large boulders, but wasn't really looking for it.
