Question Long pond vs st regis for camping base

Looking for opinions on Long vs St Regis. Spent weekend at St Regis with family last August on the island site, it was beautiful. Trying to decide if we repeat or try something new? Any opinion on either... is the water the same, better campsites etc? Thanks in advance.

Long Pond gives you many other options. Climb Long Pond Mountain (the "canoers mountain", only accessible via canoe), short hike to visit beautiful Mountain Pond, Pink Pond, Nellie and Bessie, Ledge Pond. There are some incredibly impressive deep and wide kettle holes between Mtn Pond and Ledge (short bushwhack required). There is a remote primitive campsite on Mtn Pond.

Long Pond Mountain is definitely worth the climb. It's got some nice views and it doesn't get a while lot of use due to the combined paddle and hike to get to the summit. The marked trail ends at an overlook with views to the southeast. If you poke around, you may find a herd path that leads a few hundred feet further to another overlook with views to the southwest.

Long Pond has a shorter carry in.
Long has interconnected ponds, St Regis does not.
St Regis Mt is a bushwhack directly from the pond, if you're not comfortable with a 2 miles bushwhack, you'll need to paddle far around to the trailhead.
Long Pond Mt is accessible from the water only via Mountain Pond.
Views from Long are growing in...St Regis views are superior, IMHO.
Long is more protected, St Regis is more exposed with respect to wind.

Both have access to Fish Pond and many others, both have healthy loon populations, both have good fishing (I don't fish).
