Link doesn't work. I'd like to see it as I hunt with a Trapper myself.

What is the story behind your love for this gun?

Mine is .30-30 and it did the job again this past season (scroll down):

I have killed most of my Adirondack bucks with this little gun, which my dad gave to me when I graduated high school. I like that it's fast handling and light-weight.

Glad I fixed the download. She is nice! Looking for a barrel band from Winchester and a stock eyelet for a sling carry.

Numrich Arms or Brownell's would likely have parts for that if Winchester doesn't.

My second rifle was a Marlin 30-30. Miss it a lot.

I don't really have a story for it other then I was browsing a catalog and decided I would like one. It really was that simple. I purchased two boxes of ammo when the gun came in on order and didn't fire a shot out of it for close to a year. I believe, it's been awhile since then. Put the Williams sight on a bit after. But I would like a ladder sight installed other then the fact that it cost close to $200.00. The ladder would be inappropriate anyhow due to the ranges the caliber is capable of.

I have fond memories of the 44 mag.. I killed my first buck in 1968, a 180 lb 8 Pt’er with a borrowed Winchester lever action , 44-40 that had been converted to 44 mag. It had a peep sight, and was a great firearm.

I was expecting to see a pistol. I like the peep site on that. It points quickly.

Great little firearm, weighs less than some handguns
I have one in 45 Colt, Functionally I would like the receiver site like you have , but really like the traditional look of the standard open site. Fun gun, just shoot mine at the range and used to shoot cowboy action events with it. Keep thinking I want to hunt with mine too, maybe after I move up to the Adks this summer.

I can tell you that for hunting the receiver/peep sight makes all the difference in the world. Most of our hunting group uses lever guns and most have peeps on them. I carried my Trapper for about 15 years with the factory sights and found the post front sight was just too big as it blocked out the target (deer), even at 40 yards. Once I made the switch, I did a lot better on the timberland bucks.

i wholeheartedly agree on the efficiency of a receiver site. I have them on a Ruger #1 in 45-70 (my favorite hunting rifle) and a Win 94 with 24" half round half octagon barrel. i once put one on my Rem model 70 in .270 (my high school graduation present 50 years ago this coming May), I was hunting in PA with it with a 4X scope and got a deer at about 10 yards, went home , took the scope off and put a Williams receiver site on it and hunted several years that way. Now it wears a fixed 6X scope.
First deer at 15 years old was with a Win model 12 12ga shotgun with a slug.

That's a beauty!! The trapper has been a bucket list gun of mine for quite some time now. I believe I read somewhere that back in the day it came with a letter from the ATF stating that it was still legal despite it's size?

I did a Sn: check to find out when it was manufactured and came back with year 2004. 14 years old. Could not remember for certain which year I purchased her.
