Northern Adirondack Fishing Report
I fish the ponds and lakes in Franklin County on a regular basis...at least as regular as I possibly can. Every time I run into other fishermen either on the water or at the local bait and tackle stores, not even Pepto Bismol could stop the flow of information. So I have recently started a Northern Adirondacks Fishing Report on my website: http://bestrainbowtroutphotos.com. I figured that I was already paying for the site so I might as well provide information on "the bite" to others. The only information that I can absolutely endorse is that which I collect on my own fishing trips...many fishermen are quite secretive about such information. With so many lakes, ponds and streams to chose from, probably the most important decision I make is "where" I am going to fish that day...much more important than what fly or flies I am going to use. Just thought it would be neat to have a site where "local" fishing information could be shared. As an added bonus, you will be able to see photos that I have taken of rainbow trout that I have taken over the past couple of years. These are truly unique photos of trout feeding on hatches. I hope to hear from you. I think that once this website gets rolling and I have more fishermen making reports to me, it will become a useful tool for us all. Right at the moment I am receiving information on ice fishing...something I do inbetween "ice in" and "ice out". I have to admit though, I have much better luck catching splake during the hardwater season than any other time of the year. How do you catch them during the summer?????? By the way...I'm not opposed to casting dry flies, but my main style is slow trolling using my Radisson canoe with sinking lines and streamers.

Trying to get Adirondack Fishing News
Hi,
I've just started posting news concerning fishing possiblilities in the Northern Adirondacks on my website: http://bestrainbowtroutphotos.ifp3.com. It is my hope to get a few avid fisherman to join my small group of friends that get out on the lakes and ponds regularly and would like to share information. There are so many places to fish in the area that one of my most important decisions of the day is "Where do I go fish?" With today's gas prices this decision becomes even more important LOL. I know it will take a while to get this thing going, but I have the space and I do meet many other fishermen out on the water (or ice) and they always seem to have info but not sure they have computers. LOL bestrainbows1 |

you have some beautiful photos of some great fish, very nice
one thing about your site, and please don't take offense as i mean none i have high speed internet and your site took painfully long to load (almost 2 min) but that may just be me. i could not imagine someone with dial up viewing it. i just said that as it may (or not ) be something to think about and help in getting better results . other than that Great job!!! |

Since Time Warner refuses to place a line up to where I live,[not enough possible subscribers], I have dial-up. It took about 3 minutes and as you said," great job". I'm starting to seriously consider satellite, but I've heard some negatives!....... |

Your pictures
Wow--what pictures! How many do you figure you have to take to get a bunch like those you've posted--thousands?
When you're trolling with a flyrod and have 150' out, are you using backing behind a sinking line or some other setup? Thanks for letting us know about your great site. |

Northern Adirondack Ponds
I fish several ponds in the Northern Adirondacks as often as I possibly can. I then post information on my website: http://bestrainbowtroutphotos.ifp3.com
I have several friends that keep me posted on the ponds they fish also, and I am always looking for more reports from helpful fishermen. With gas prices these days, it is nice to know if the fish are biting before making the effort. My latest trip to Green Pond was a huge success...fish the wind blown shorelines....large splake and landlocks...I lost two landlocks...my 6 wt rod with 5X leader just couldn't hold them.

I might as well mention the two fishing sites that I operate. Thanks for asking.

For you flytyers: Here's a saltwater fly tying site. I have found that they utilize some materials that freshwater fly tyers don't (at least I was unaware of them) and also use some techniques that aren't used often by freshwater fly tyers. You can poke around--I did and learned a fair amount--particularly applicable to streamer tying. Browse through their forum.

Great links everyone
Thanks everyone for the fantastic resources. I'll throw the famed local ADK fly fisherman Rich Garfield into the mix and his custom tied flies:
