Looking to get into Siamese ponds in a couple of weeks so really wondering about ice so I don't drive 500 miles.

I think you're the one who turned me onto it elsewhere in this forum some time ago!

Might find some spots this weekend, Anyone looking to travel i would start making plans for next weekend. I will be driving around this weekend for a full update. Colby is about 70 % open. Mirror lake not at all. However, whats left looks slushy, with this warm and rain they will all start opening daily now at this point.

A lot of drainage waters below 2000 ft have opened up in the last couple days.

Seepage ponds and others above 2500 ft should at least close in the next week.

Right on schedule! My guess is that the warm rain takes the ice off of Mirror Lake tonight and I win!

That's very possible. However we haven't told you what the prize is yet.

It is a two week fishing trip in Long Island Sound with Glen.

I thought that was the second place prize. First place gets a one week fishing trip with Glen.

Drove by meacham Paul Smith's and St Regis. Little to no shoreline melt and honest to God could probably walk on all the ice it was a total bummer.

Mirror lake still locked up as well. Still can not get over how much ice was around everything by paul smiths. Going to troll around colby to enjoy the nice day tomorrow. Cant even get to the river banks due to flooding so all of that is not an option.

I hiked into a lower elevation pond early this morning. It was still covered in ice, at least a foot of it, wall-to-wall. I'd forgotten to pack in my chainsaw so I couldn't cut a trench to fly fish in.

At least it was a nice day for a hike. I'm going just a bit crazy with all the rivers blown out and the ponds frozen solid. Think I'll have an Easter IPA. Or two. Or three. For that matter, I might just head over to Pikebuster's place and get trashed on skunkwater.

Yeah,I'm starting to get alittle antsy to get out now…every time I find the time to go ,mother nature gets involved. My rivers were blown out over this weekend. Maybe this upcoming weekend will work for us…so, in the meantime I guess I`ll tie flies and drink some good IPA`s..

The Easter bunny told me to look at certain ponds in the ha de ron dah, pigeon lake, and whitney wilderness areas. But he was carrying an ugly stick and a coffee can of worms, so take it for what it's worth.

Made it out Thursday to a pond that was about 1/3 open. Could only fish a couple hours but managed to get 3. Tuesday I'm going to another pond that should be open. Definitely a late spring though.
