Dopler Effect and others

I'm sure you've all heard of the "Dopler Effect". No, I didn't misspell...it is Dopler.
That is the effect where stupid ideas sound much smarter when moving towards you, even more pronounced at high speed.

I am also reminded of what I see here often, in fact right here in the "By the Fireside" section.
Yes, I'm referring to sarchasm...(again, I did not misspell).
Sarchasm is the large gap between the purveyor of a witticism and those that don't get it!

OK, ok, you've all heard these before, maybe even from me!

I just learned a new one, no explanation required...

Bearanoia. I'm going to use that term as often as possible.

As an aside, I lobbied my daughter and SIL to name their kids "Matilda" and Kapostophe". They wouldn't bite...but the spelling could be so efficient; Ma~ and K'

Anyone else?!

It seemed like a stupid idea to me at first, but now seems ok to do.

Would that statement be considered sarchasm?
To some

Talk about sarchasm! I had to go to Wikipedia for this one.

Then I remembered trying to choose a paint color. It turned out to be a pigment of my imagination.

Don't use Benjamin Moore paints , seems that some one is suing them because of " offensive color names "

I think Bearanoia should be strongly promoted to all those nervous about camping / visiting the Adirondacks
The silent shadow , nose 1k X more sensitive than the best bloodhound , can run up trees faster than a human can run on flat ground , .....
The possibilities are almost endless

Great thread!

arachnoleptic fit: the frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web

bozone: the substance surrounding stupid people, which stops bright ideas from penetrating.
