Whoops! Sorry. I have no insight into what the DEC may be considering nor have I heard of anyone lobbying for amendments to the bear canister regulation. Perhaps someone associated with the DEC can chime in.

I voted sometimes, especially when hiking alone. Prepare my food and store canister at least 100 yards downwind from the hammock. I feel safer after having it done. That's why I also sleep in the hammock - far from the ground and potential bears

I am also a dedicated hammock camper. However, I can't help but to think that someone in a hammock, to a bear just might look like a giant candy wrapper with a soft chewy center.
