Fishbrook Pond LGWF campsites

Does anyone know if there are designated campsites on Fishbrook Pond in Lake George? I know there are a couple of lean-to's but I don't know if there are any designated primitive campsites. Thanks,

The lean-tos are the only official campsites that I'm aware of, but people have camped at other spots around the pond.

Now that baisleytom has brought it up, I believe that IS a designated site, but again, I don't stay there.

We were up there last September and took a picture of the site.

It's listed as a picnic site on SLIM, but obviously used rather heavily by campers.

Yes, we removed the trash from the fire pit!

Was there today, goodly amount of use, but no yellow tag marking legal or not. Lots of trash at #1 LT, sad.

Do you think the trash is recent, or left over from the very short snowmobiling season?

I think it's recent. Here's a couple of shots from this past weekend. The daypack and dog are mine. The rest belong to the fine folks too lazy to pack out their garbage. At least they left a broom.

Nice pond BTW. I hiked in from Sleeping Beauty. Has anyone hiked in from the Black Mountain side? Coming in from the South was nice but I wouldn't want to haul in a canoe or float tube pack. Not sure if the terrain from the North is gentler.

Coming in from the north is a bit easier, less rocky.

Although I haven't been there in a while, and I live nearby, I grew up going there. I've only snowmobiled the trail to Lapland and Milllman and was on it once on a hunting trip in there. I also went to Greenland that same weekend, about 20 years ago. I'm sure there's still a canoe or rowboat stashed around there.

Last time I was in Fishbrook Pond was ~1974. We used a stashed canoe I found but didn't catch anything. I believe it was fiberglass and I bet it's still there. Here are some pics of that youthful trip. I see we were using Yard Guard for bug control.

Pretty cool. Looks like not much has changed there in the last 43 years. There are plenty of boats stashed and most of them had ample holes in them.

I feel like at one point I did see a "Camp Here" disc in a site on Fishbrook Pond. It may have been the site baisleytom mentions but I honestly can't remember. The problem with heavily used destinations like Fishbrook Pond is that the "Camp Here" discs never seem to last very long when they are posted.

There definitely is a designated site on Bumps Pond (with a "Camp Here" disc), on the west shore of that pond.
