Adirondack Mushrooms - Thanks Irene

2 Days after Hurricane Irene near Cranberry Lake. All within 100 feet of eachother! All in one day. Actually, photographed all in 15 minutes, there were so many!

I had the same thoughts this past weekend on Tongue Mountain and took great fun in photographing every different type of fungus I came across.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.
It's about learning to dance in the rain.

For a minute there it looked like you might have come across some prime edible Boletus Edulis (Porcini) but further pictures show that most of them look like Scaber stalk boletes (Leccinum) which are only mediocre to eat and could cause sickness. I've had 2 crops of Leccinum this fall in my front yard associated with birch trees.
