I'm sure this man was seen when the people searched the woods for the missing boy in Tupper Lake last year.

Well, I didn't see him, nor did I hear of anyone else that did. The DEC lead search by the masses was pretty well focused within a mile of the LKP not far from Rte 3 at Piercefield, not nearly as far as Childwold. The later family search no doubt expanded further.

Cheldwold Hermit

Heard the hermit offered a raffle for cancer to cut his beard and hair there. Must be he shows himself once in awhile. 💈

There were two long, lanky, tall men in Keene the same time that Carolyn and her daughter ran the store. I was a young teenager then. One was old Mark Farley who was a bit of a hermit who lived alone up towards "Smithville" near the Gilmore Hill road, and the other was a retired, eccentric mechanical engineer who lived alone and often would walk to town from his home up in the Irish Glen. His name was Herb Weinert. He had a Porsche but kept burning the clutch out of it, so he'd walk rather than have it fixed.

Both of these men would wear long black coats and were unkempt and hermit-like in appearance. They were gentle as lambs and I have wonderful memories from both of them.
