Give me a day or two to ck on another option.
I know of a spot with plenty of acerage and a large party house.
I will need to make some phone calls tomorrow.
If not then we can use my 32 by 40 garage as a pavillion.
The neighbors would be no problem as long as i invite them.
I'll keep you posted.

Looncry, you do not have to be a member of any hiking club to attend. You and your son are most welcome, as is anyone reading this.

Wardy,
Invoke Mayoral privilege and get Oak Mountain or the pavillion at the beach. If we do your place, I can bring up the 10x20 shelter that I have. I've got the propane cookers and grills as well........sounds like, well, another weekend at camp. L

An important point: wherever the actual gathering is held, the facility needs to have electricity.

We have electric and access to a number of generators as well. Wardy is holding out on us......he's got indoor and outdoor plumbing, 3 places, and a big cut field.......if he would only part with some of that First Communion money he could throw as all a big catered party. I'm down around the corner on Lake Pleasant, and have 2 double beds, two pullout sofas, a twin bed, as well as floor space........

Save one of the beds for me! Speculator sounds like the perfect place for this - now we just need the boys in charge to make a decision!

Wardy's place

We're both in Speculator/Lake Pleasant. If you are at the 4 corners/Charlie Johns store (Rt 8 and Rt 30), you take Rt 30 north about a mile up the hill. You go past the turn for the Melody Lodge and go about another 200 yards and will see Solans Way street sign. It's a private stone drive (you know Wardy is a real estate mogul), you're there. I'm down on Lake Pleasant at the West end per se, by the churches (I'll make sure we have room for everyone for Sunday services).
We're about 2 miles from Moffit Beach, 1 mile from the Lake Pleasant town beach, 13 miles south of Snowy Mountain, 33 miles from Gore......hope that helps. Plus, Wardy is just about the mayor up there, and I serve as unofficial social director to the community. Hey, someone has to do it.

I'd say we book it NOW and consider it a done deal.

Ummmmm, I want a primo accommodations in the main lodge please.

Also, I already plan on logging a trip up to the plane crash on Blue Ridge that weekend (perhaps even more cool stuff too). Anyone is welcome to come. About 6 miles of reasonable easy bushwhacking.

Be warned, I WILL be LITTERING the area with several fresh AMERICAN FLAGS to honor the dead. Sorry, it's a promise I made to the sister of one of the deceased, who is now deceased herself.

Other than that. All are welcome.

I'd like to attend also. It would be a pleasure to shake the hands behind the screen names I see so often. I can bring some food also......perhaps some homemade kielbasi?
