I saw the title "finally a decent fish" thought I'd stop in and investigate because I had assumed by the title it was a pike, but that's a nice looking Brooke trout you got there, real beaut

Nice but not sure why no one corrected this rainbow trout being called a brook trout?

hey glen im kind of disappointed that you and VT never reached out this year for the start of a annual fishing trip, I'll even carry the beer...we'll start next year!! If you're still laid up I'll even push your wheelchair in. And WB I've wobbled for a grand total of 20 hours in my last trout fishing trips and have one to show for it so I decided to head back too my roots (Buschlight and pike) and I nailed a few in the low to mid 30's I'll put some pics up

nice fish! Good to have you back posting bruisers! I love the drag peeling sound that that fish must have created.

Nice WB! I'm on the disabled list due to a torn calf muscle. (Don't play volleyball with teenagers). I'll have to live vicariously through you guys this fall. Get to work.

I think the fish are starting to turn on. Did some laker fishing this week. Skunked one day but 5 the next with 2 more that didn't make it to the boat! Tons of bait schools in the water as well. Lake Temp was 61 degrees. Very nice rainbow there WB.

Nice bow WB.

ADKPB, those are some pretty hefty pike. Do you keep any for the fryer? IMO they taste as good as walleye!

I don't want to take away from WBs fish, but I like to put out a picture of a pike when I can, but yes I do eat them I don't mind the taste at all I really can't tell the difference between pike and bass but that's my own opinion

Thank you Everyone!

Like Glen ,I `ve been on the mend lately too. Have'nt fished since June. Messed my back up doing a roofing job. At least I was 'nt playing volleyball. But, my wife still wasn't too happy. Herniated disc and stenosis,DDD and arthritis was found on the MRI. PT has been great! And have returned to work this week. Will try to get out more this fall, under Glens orders! Given, the streams stay at a good flow. If anything worthy of this board inhales the fly I`ll be sure to post.

Nice pike Adkpike buster!

Also,EC is right! This ole girl slammed my weighted nymph..and yes ,it was an epic battle of jumps and fast runs as the reel screamed in delight! I followed it like it was a steelhead! Get out there on the waters guys, the fish are turning on. Post here of your outing.Glen will be needing some good reading and fish porn!

gmorin/bioguide...yes! MY Lamson reel was spinning wildly...had to allow more drag afraid the 5X tippet wasn't going to stay connected to the torpedo.Did break another nice hefty fish off after that one farther upstream. It slammed the same fly and caught me by surprise as my fly was directly facing downstream,I was ready to lift the line up and recast when it happen."PING"!! A few other taps and that was it.

That's it for now, hope to post again soon...

WB

Yes,you're right gmorin!...I couldn't stop staring at how vividly bright reddish violet colored her fins were! She was certainly very well dressed for this occassion! Wished I brought my GoPro ,because the quality of its footage really brings out a fishes colors ,especially on the underwater shots of the release!!! Next time!!

Now, go out and get some fall trout! Need to see more photos of colored up fish this fall!

WB, that's a fish you certainly deserve! That's one even Ross would have difficulty matching! Very well done indeed.

Pikebuster, I've only delayed your invite because of work travel (currently in the UK. At least I'm in a pub while writing this). We will bring Glen, wheelchair or not. We'll need his sorry carcass to cut up for bait. Plus there's no way we can lug him plus enough beer for all three of us.

To all: I'm giving up two weeks of the fall season to go fish the Manitoba Parklands on a loosely organized trip with Phil Rowley. Glen thinks the fishery is contrived. I hope an old dog can learn new tricks. Sure beats spending my fall sleeping on the porch in the sun. Expect a report the first week of October.

Thanks VT! But, we all know ,all Ross has to do is wave his fly rod and magic flies out the end, often producing very large fish wherever he fishes! And,you aren't too shabby yourself! Can`t wait to see some gorgeous adk. brookies from the ponds from you guys soon!

Very nice fish WB. What a beauty! Much respect for those that do it with a fly rod. Certainly no easy task.
