We actually saw two such "right angle" trees on the way up West Kill Mt. in the Adirondacks yesterday (Saturday). One was quite small (c. 2-3 inches in diameter). It looked as though it had been broken off and then healed itself. Also saw one which was much larger (c. 1 ft. in diameter).
I'm not sure if Joanne took a picture of those two or not, but maybe she has one...
It's amazing what nature's creations will do to survive...

So many trees fall over in storms,damaging winds and natural causes.I remember when I hiked a trail as a kid and saw a tree stump covered in moss[thought it was a rock] tipped in a way so you could only see the stump.I will try to go back and see it.Then send a pic. Looncry

Not "crazy" like the trees shown above, but interesting nonetheless...
