Huckleberry/ Crane Mt. Paint Beds

I see that there is an older thread noting the private land access routes are off limits. I see there is also a route that goes over Crane Mt. past the pond and down the back side. A bushwack of sorts that follows the stream down. Looks to have some pretty cool cliff faces to check out. I'm not a rock climber, but can appreciate the scenery just the same.
Has anybody done this hike?
Thinking I may give it a try later this spring before the leaves are in full bloom.

Pick up a copy of Adirondack Rock for details on that approach, and on the cliffs on Huckleberry. Many routes put up there in the day (1980s) when it was legal to approach from the Garnet Lake Road side.

Some good info on the Paintbed Brook area including its history, and the mapped path leading to it from Crane Mountain Pond can also be found in This Book.

Yes, I've been into the paint mine area, now closed, and I've followed an illegal ATV trail down a short distance from Crane Mt. Pond, but I haven't connected the two. The ATVs are coming in from the private property, probably to fish the pond.

The upper portion of the trail is quite pretty, almost a boreal forest.

Interesting how the public isn't allowed on private property but the private property owners feel they are allowed to use atvs on state land...some things never change
